Ukraine's defense manufacturer Ukrainian Armor will build a new ammunition factory in the country, aiming to boost its production of artillery shells, CEO Vladyslav Belbas said in an interview with Militarnyi, published on Monday.

Belbas said the move will significantly increase output, but declined to disclose what types of munitions will be produced in the plant. The CEO, however, said the Soviet-style 152-mm shells will not be part of the plant's portfolio.

Ukrainian Armor currently produces a range of mortar and artillery shells, including 60-mm, 82-mm, and 120-mm rounds, supplying more than 100,000 units annually.

The expansion marks a shift toward greater self-reliance, with many components now sourced domestically, except for critical materials like gunpowder and explosives, according to the report.

The move is part of broader efforts by Ukraine's defense sector to ramp up military production, reflecting the country's evolving response to ongoing military challenges.
