Ukraine defense minister faces corruption probe amid internal dispute over arms procurement

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) opened a criminal case investigation involving the country's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, which could worsen a dispute within the ministry over arms procurement, Reuters reported, citing NABU.

The investigation — which was requested by a corruption watchdog — would look into allegations of abuse of authority, which could damage ties with Kyiv's important Western allies.
