Germany pledged a further €200 million in aid for urban reconstruction and other projects during a visit to Kyiv by the German envoy for the reconstruction of Ukraine, German news agency dpa reported.

Jochen Flasbarth, Germany's point man for the reconstruction of Ukraine, said the money is also meant to support education, health care and drinking water, dpa reported, without adding further details.

The pledge came amid a trip by Flasbarth, whose formal title is state secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, to Kyiv and Mykolaiv, where he met Ukrainian Minister of Economy Yulia Svyridenko and various municipal officials, according to his account with X (formerly Twitter).

Flasbarth made no public announcement of an increase in civilian aid from Germany but dpa reported it had "learned" of the pledge.
