Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to meet JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon in Davos this week as the country seeks financial commitments to help fight Russia and rebuild its infrastructure, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources.
The two will meet at the World Economic Forum as key representatives from government and the private sector worldwide meet in the Swiss resort town to discuss the fighting in Ukraine and Gaza and other urgent matters of the day.
Zelensky's reported plan to meet with Dimon comes as Ukraine's allies face growing trouble over their commitments to continue supporting the country's fight against Russia and the repair and rebuilding of hundreds of billions of dollars in damages inflicted since Russia invaded almost two years ago.
JPMorgan, along with BlackRock, is helping advise the government on the creation of the Ukraine Development Fund (UDF), which is meant to use funding from major Western donors to attract further investment from the private sector.
Zelensky is scheduled to arrive in Bern, Switzerland on Monday and meet with Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis ahead of the week's deliberations in Davos.
On Sunday, Ukraine's presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak, who was in Davos in preparation for the meetings, called on China to take an active role in ending the war in Ukraine
However, when asked at a press conference whether Zelensky would meet in Davos with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Yermak said simply "Let's see."
