Ukraine's central bank is preparing to launch a pilot project for e-hryvnia

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is exploring the possibility of launching its own retail digital currency (CBDC), the e-hryvnia, with a pilot project currently in preparation, NBU Deputy Chairman Oleksiy Shaban said.

According to Shaban, the e-hryvnia is intended to complement, not replace, cash and bank account balances and would serve as an additional option for users to choose from, rather than a substitute for traditional money.
