Ukraine refuses to sign off on draft minerals deal with US

Ukraine, US delegations meet at the Munich Security Conference on Feb. 14

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday he directed his ministers not to sign off on a proposed rare earth minerals agreement with the US, saying the deal wasn't in Ukraine's best interest.

"I didn't let the ministers sign a relevant agreement because in my view it is not ready to protect us, our interest. For me is very important the connection between some kind of security guarantees and some kind of investment," Zelensky told The Associated Press on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
