Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has submitted his resignation after an anti-corruption investigation implicated senior officials in his office in an alleged scheme to protect fraudulent call centers and launder criminal proceeds.

Kravchenko tendered his resignation late on Sept. 7, calling it a “political decision” and saying he did not want the office of prosecutor general to become “an instrument of political confrontation.” He asked President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Verkhovna Rada to accept his dismissal.
