Ukraine plans to launch a pilot phase of a proposed national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions trading system in 2028, the country's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources said.

The GHG trading system is a market-based mechanism that sets an overall limit on greenhouse gas emissions for companies. Each company is allocated or purchases a set number of allowances, which can be used for its own emissions or sold on the quota market established under this system.
