Ukraine's government has approved a plan to boost renewable energy to account for 27% of all energy consumed in the country by 2030, with a total investment of $20 billion.

The sector will add 10 gigawatts of new generation capacity within six years, bringing the portion of renewables to 33% of the energy used for heating and cooling, 29% of electricity and 17% of energy used in the transportation sector, the government said.

The government did not elaborate on the envisaged investment of $20 billion, which was communicated on an infographic accompanying the plan, nor indicate where the money might come from.
