Putin says US ceasefire proposal for Ukraine 'correct' but needs to be clarified

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that Moscow agrees with the US ceasefire proposal for Ukraine but that a number of details need to be clarified before the fighting stops, as quoted by Reuters.

"We agree with the proposals to cease hostilities. The idea itself is correct, and we certainly support it," Putin told reporters at the Kremlin. "But we proceed from the fact that this cessation should be such that it would lead to long-term peace and would eliminate the original causes of this crisis."
