Most Ukrainian healthcare workers suffered power outages that interrupted medical procedures, study finds

Power outages in Ukraine caused by Russian attacks on the country's energy infrastructure interrupted medical procedures for 66.3% of healthcare workers at least once between February 2022 and July 2024, a study conducted by the Physicians for Human Rights and Truth Hounds found.

Delays in elective surgeries were reported by 8.4% of healthcare workers surveyed as part of the study, while 1.7% experienced interruptions during a procedure due to power outages. In addition, 1.8% of respondents reported failures in life support systems due to power outages.
