EU carbon tax could lead to $2.7 billion investment loss, $4.7 billion in export loss for Ukraine by 2030, study suggests

Introduction of the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) could lead to some $2.7 billion in investment losses for Ukraine between 2026 and 2030, according to an updated estimate from steel industry consultancy GMK Center.

In addition, potential export losses during the same period are projected at $4.7 billion. The estimates are based on 2024 data.
