Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed boosting trade and economic ties between their countries during a meeting in New York on Wednesday.
The two talked about strengthening investment cooperation and involving Turkey and Turkish companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine, the Ukrainian president's office said in a press release.
Zelensky and Erdogan also discussed Zelensky’s 2022 plan for peace in Ukraine, the so-called Peace Formula. They stressed the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, highlighting Turkey's pivotal role in executing the food security provision outlined in the plan.
The food security provision from the Peace Formula includes points on the expansion of the Black Sea Grain Initiative and full restoration of freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, among others.
Turkish construction companies are particularly active in Ukraine, led by firms such as Onur Group, and Turkish citizens have opened more businesses in Ukraine since the February 2022 Russian invasion than any other citizens
