US tariff to hit Ukrainian steelmakers already damaged by war, economy minister says

The US decision to raise tariffs on steel imports to a flat 25% will hit Ukraine-based exporters such as Interpipe and ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, which have already been several hit by the war with Russia, Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.

"For the past few years, we have been making every effort to keep Ukrainian steel exempt from the 25% tariffs in the US," Svyrydenko said in a LinkedIn post. "The US decision from March 12 to impose tariffs on steel from other countries, including Ukraine, will impact the metallurgical industry."
