Switzerland will over the next four years allocate CHF 1.5 billion ($1.8 billion) to support Ukraine's reconstruction projects, Ukraine's Ministry for Restoration said Thursday in a press release.

Of the total, CHF 1 billion will be directed toward the self-government, demining, and humanitarian aid sectors, while the remainder will go toward recovery programs with the involvement of the Swiss private sector.

The announcement follows a meeting in Kyiv between Switzerland's Ambassador to Ukraine Feliks Baumann and Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration Oleksiy Kuleba.

"To emphasize the seriousness of our intentions, our representative will work here, who will be responsible for the implementation of this project," said Baumann. "Right now, a delegation of the private sector is working in Kyiv, which is familiar with the needs of Ukraine in the spheres for which the ministry is responsible, in the medium and long term."

Representatives of the Ministry for Restoration also met with the delegation of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), which arrived in Ukraine to hold the 14th meeting of the Ukrainian-Swiss Joint Committee.

During the meeting, SECO representatives outlined planned measures aimed at supporting Ukraine's recovery with the involvement of the Swiss companies, as per the statement.
