The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in charge of the Japanese government's development funding, is considering financing energy and infrastructure projects in Ukraine previously covered by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Ukrinform reported on Wednesday, citing Hideki Matsunaga, head of JICA's Ukraine office.

"We would like to see what gaps have arisen in the energy sector and try to fill them as much as possible. Of course, we have certain budgetary constraints, but we would like to do more... We have to seriously think about the energy sector and infrastructure, and we will consider these sectors," Matsunaga said during the 5th Ukrainian-Japanese Forum held in Kyiv, as quoted by Ukrinform.
