Ukraine defense minister accused of abusing power by firing transparency watchdog

Anastasia Radina, head of the Ukrainian parliament's anti-corruption committee called for the resignation of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov after he fired the head of the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA), Maryna Bezrukova.

Pro-reform lawmakers and anti-corruption activists are accusing Umerov of attempting to undermine the independence of the DPA, which was established in 2022 to increase transparency in defense procurement and combat corruption.
